Fourth-Grade Memory Day - Tuesday, June 6 @ 9:00 a.m.
Please read carefully for all the details about Fourth-Grade Memory Day.
It’s hard to believe that there are just a few days left at IPS, and your student will transition to middle school. I will miss this group so much! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to work with your most prized possessions.
Fourth-grade students should arrive at school at the usual start time. All students are asked to wear their 4th-grade graduation t-shirts.
Parents are invited to attend the 9 am Memory Day Ceremony at IPS in the gymnasium. Due to space constraints, only parents are asked to attend.
Below is a live link that will be available to watch the program from home:
Here is a link to share for 4th Grade Memory Day http://bit.ly/memoryday2023.
The ceremony will last approximately 60 minutes. Afterward, there will be time for pictures with teachers and classmates.
At approximately 10:30 am, the entire school will line up for a clap-out for our fourth graders. Any additional relatives (grandparents, etc.) are welcome to line the circle outside and join in the clap-out.
A bus will be waiting in the parking lot for our 4th-grade class, and they will be transported to the Independence Civic Center for pizza, snacks, and inflatables (students must have socks for inflatables.)
During the students' time at the Civic Center, we ask that parent chaperones are present if possible. If a parent cannot be present, please coordinate with another parent who will assume responsibility for your child. There will not be IPS staff members present at the Civic Center.
Students must be picked up from the Civic Center at 1:30 pm. Please make sure to arrange transportation for your child.
If you have children in grades K-3, dismissal on this day takes place at the usual time.
If there are any questions about the last day of school for our 4th-grade students, please contact the main office.

Today the final IPS 4th grade immersion project of the school year was held - this project focused on careers in public safety.
18 students were taken on a day-long immersive experience with the help of our AMAZING Independence Ohio Police Department and Independence Fire Department Ohio
Students started the day with a live K9 demonstration combined with our scheduled IPS lockdown drill. Then they were able to visit with members of the SWAT team and K9 Officer Vitron, and were taken in the SWAT vehicle to the police station.
At the station, students were given an in-depth tour, visited the jail and holding cells, talked with detectives about investigations, fingerprinting and a typical day on the job, and then they were taken to observe mayor's court and visit with the clerk of courts and city prosecutor.
After the visit to the police station, students headed over to the fire department to have lunch at the fire station and learn about life-saving measures such as CPR with the help of Firefighter/Paramedic and Independence local schools parent Mike Wodarczyk, along with practicing those skills on a CPR mannequin.
Then, Firefighter/Paramedic and school parent Kyle Krysiak took students on an in-depth tour of the fire department and answered about 575,000 questions from our enthusiastic students!
The year-long immersion projects are facilitated by Career Development Specialist Amanda Jaronowski, and are a partnership between Independence Schools and CVCC.
All of our immersion projects have truly been an awesome experience for our kids! 💙
