CLASSROOM PLACEMENT:
Student homeroom assignment letters will be mailed Friday, August 11th. Check your mailboxes!
Several factors go into making class assignments, including teacher input, student data, and a desire to balance classes evenly throughout the grade level. It is also important for us to be able to find the best fit in regard to students’ and teachers’ strengths/ weaknesses, as well as the overall dynamic of the students in the class. Class rosters have been finalized at this time, and we will not be making changes.

KINDERGARTEN START OF SCHOOL:
Kindergarten students will schedule a Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) appointment on either Wednesday, August 23, Thursday, August 24, or Friday, August 25. Please look for an email on Monday, August 7th, with directions on scheduling your child's 30-minute appointment on SignUpGenius.
Group A (A-L) - Monday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 30.
Group B (M-Z) - Tuesday, August 29 and Thursday, August 31.
All Kindergarten students will attend together on Friday, September 1st.

IMPORTANT: "SOFT" OPENING FOR STUDENTS Grades 1-4
The success we had the last three years with our "soft opening" the first two days of school is one we are planning again this school year. The plan is to stagger, allowing staff to answer questions and concerns in smaller groupings and times. This is a great way to establish relationships with the students and staff in smaller groups. We will stagger days alphabetically by the last names listed below.
Wed., August 23: School only for last names starting A-L (No school for M-Z)
Thurs., August 24: School only for last names M-Z (No school for A-L)
Fri., August 25: ALL students (grades 1-4) regular day

We are 22 days from the 2023-2024 school year, and we can’t wait for a new year of growing together at IPS! Our Independence Primary School teachers and staff eagerly await the opportunity to welcome students back to IPS. Dave and the rest of our custodial staff have done an outstanding job ensuring IPS is ready for the 2023-2024 school year!

Don't miss the latest updates from IPS! https://conta.cc/44QF0AX
