Independence Middle School presents Xanadu Jr. on November 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. in the IMS auditorium.
A Greek muse inspires love, laughter and the world's first Roller Disco in this 1980s glitter explosion based on the cult film and Broadway musical. Xanadu JR. is inspired by the Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical and the Universal Pictures' cult classic movie that starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. Xanadu JR. is a moving, electrifying tale of endless fun that will keep audiences in stitches while the original, legendary chart-topping tunes lift them out of their seats.
Xanadu JR. follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira (Kadence Young, 8th grade), who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California, on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny (Sam Caruso, 8th Grade), to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first Roller Disco. (Hey, it's 1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny her jealous sisters Melpomene (Scarlett Lewis, 6th grade) and Calliope (Cameron Bauman, 6th grade) take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.
Over 50 cast members in grades 5-8 bring the magical world of Xanadu JR to our stage!
