Independence Local Schools and the City of Independence  invite you to embark on a journey around the world at the Second Annual Cultural Fair on Thursday, March 13, from 6–7:30 p.m. at the Independence Civic Center.

This exciting event will showcase months of collaboration between second and sixth graders as they explore and present the rich traditions, customs, and heritage of countries across the globe. Working in pairs or small groups, students have created engaging displays that highlight cultural elements such as traditional attire, cuisine, customs, and historical insights.

With 75 countries represented, the Civic Center will be transformed into a vibrant international showcase. Attendees will enjoy cultural cuisine samples from local restaurants, a live mariachi performance, and interactive student-led presentations that bring each country’s unique traditions to life. This year’s theme, “Around the World in 80 Days,” sets the stage for an immersive, educational experience for all ages.

The Cultural Fair is more than just an event—it’s a chance for students, families, and community members to come together in the spirit of unity, learning, and appreciation for diversity. The project aligns with the district’s strategic goals of empowering whole child development, fostering meaningful learning experiences, and creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.

The event is free and open to all parents, students, and community members. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate culture, connection, and community in a night of global exploration!

Special thanks to the City of Independence, Indy Alive, the IPS and IMS PTOs, and local restaurants Aladdin’s, Cozumel, Gentile’s, Thai Gourmet, King Tut Egyptian Street Food, Gran Fiesta Mexican, and Tita Flora’s for their generous support in making this event possible.
