Independence Local Schools is inviting families to take a break from their busy schedules and focus on quality time together during Indy Family First Night on Monday, March 10. This special evening, first introduced in 2018, is designed to give students, staff, and families a night free from school-related commitments, including homework, studying, athletic practices, games, club meetings, and other activities.
After 5 p.m., students and staff are encouraged to step away from academic and extracurricular demands and spend meaningful time with their loved ones. Whether enjoying a family dinner, playing board games, or simply relaxing together, the goal is to strengthen connections outside the classroom.
"In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in busy schedules,” said Superintendent Kelli Cogan of Independence Local Schools. “Indy Family First Night is a reminder to slow down and prioritize what matters most—our families. By fostering strong family bonds, we are also cultivating a legacy of excellence that extends into our students’ personal and academic growth. We hope everyone takes this opportunity to unplug, connect, and enjoy quality time together."
The district is excited to continue this tradition and encourages all families to take full advantage of the evening to reconnect and recharge.
