Twenty-five talented third and fourth-grade students from Independence Primary School's English language arts (ELA) enrichment program have been selected for publication in Young Writers USA Scary Tales: The Witching Hour, a national youth writing competition.
"Our students have demonstrated extraordinary creativity and discipline by crafting compelling 100-word mini sagas," said Principal TJ Ebert. "This achievement showcases the exceptional writing talent within our ELA program."
The student writers faced a challenging prompt: create an original, suspenseful story within strict word count limitations. Of the 28 students who participated, 25 were chosen for the upcoming anthology.
The publication will come out in the spring. IPS Gifted/Intervention Specialist Michele Crum led the lesson.
