Charlie Meyer is a junior at Independence High School and is enrolled in CVCC’s Electrical Systems program instructed by Joseph McNamee. Charlie had a job doing some electrical work last summer, which really inspired him to dive into the field and attend CVCC. Additionally, Charlie has always enjoyed working with his hands and has looked up to his grandpa who was an electrician with Local 33.
“Mr. McNamee is such an incredible instructor. He’s always pushing us and reminding us to never give up. He reminds us that we’re capable.” -Charlie Meyer
Charlie’s favorite thing about CVCC has been the opportunity to meet students from other school districts and having the opportunity to get involved in a variety of things.
“CVCC is bigger than my homeschool, so it’s been really cool to meet students from different districts and paths of life. I know how to fix switches now thanks to the hands-on program which is pretty awesome. Now I can fix things at my house which I’m sure my parents appreciate.” -Charlie Meyer
After graduation, Charlie hopes to complete an apprenticeship within the field and one day become an entrepreneur and own his own business! Outside of academics, Charlie is involved in football, track, and wrestling at Independence High School.
