Independence High School's Drama Club presents "Mean Girls: High School Version" on March 15 & 16 at 7 p.m. in the IHS Auditorium. General admission is $12.
"Mean Girls: High School Version" is the "fetch" musical based on the popular 2004 movie written by Tina Fey, Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin, with a new musical movie that just recently hit the box office. The original movie carried a PG-13 rating and the musical content is similar. It is recommended that parents familiarize themselves with the show in order to make an informed decision prior to purchasing tickets. Parental Guidance under 13 suggested.
Cady Heron (Callia Shumay, Senior) may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George (Dani Buyansky, Senior). But when Cady and her friends, Damian (Matthew Hébert, Senior) and Janis (Julia Deblock, Senior) devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.
This powerhouse cast is rounded out with Regina's Plastics: Gretchen (Matilda Averre, Sophomore) and Karen (Avery Vilcheck, Junior) and Cady's crush, Aaron (Jack Ottaviano, Junior).
Mean Girls: High School Version brings together not only the students in our cast, but our largely student run Stage Crew, Tech Crew, Orchestra and Costume Crew!
