job shadow day

On March 19, ninth-grade students from Independence High School stepped out of the classroom and into the professional world as part of the school’s annual Job Shadow Day. The event provided students with the opportunity to explore various career fields by spending a full day shadowing professionals in industries of their interest.

Students were responsible for securing their own job shadowing placements with professionals outside their immediate family. They observed daily tasks, learned about workplace expectations, and gained firsthand insight into potential future careers. From hospitals and law offices to engineering firms and local businesses, students explored a diverse range of fields.

“This experience was incredibly valuable for our students,” said Cuyahoga Valley Career Specialist Amanda Jaronowski. “It allowed them to see what different careers entail and make connections between their education and future goals.”

As part of Independence High School’s commitment to cultivating a legacy of excellence, the Job Shadow Day program helps students bridge the gap between academics and the workforce. By engaging with professionals and gaining real-world experience, students develop critical skills that will serve them well beyond high school.

Parents, teachers, and local businesses praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of early career exploration. Many professionals who hosted students expressed enthusiasm about mentoring the next generation of workers.

With another successful Job Shadow Day completed, Independence High School looks forward to continuing this valuable tradition and further strengthening its dedication to excellence in education and career preparation.
