Independence Local Schools recently convened teachers, staff, administrators, members of the Board of Education, students, parents, alumni, and business leaders to collaborate on a vision for the district's future. On November 13 and 14 at the Independence Civic Center, this diverse group engaged in lively discussions, sharing valuable insights and thoughtful reflections to shape an impactful strategic plan.
The goal is to establish a clear, cohesive vision and roadmap that will elevate student learning and achievement across the district. Key elements of this new directional system include:
Developing a Shared Vision and Beliefs: The community will come together to develop a compelling vision of what Independence Local Schools can become, rooted in a set of shared values and beliefs about education.
Implementing Strategic Initiatives: Specific, measurable action plans will be linked to each strategic priority, outlining how the district will make tangible progress in priority areas.
Tracking Performance Indicators: Quantifiable metrics will be used to monitor implementation, evaluate success, and ensure resources are directed toward the most impactful opportunities for student growth.
“This collaborative process will provide a common framework to align our schools, staff, and stakeholders around a shared vision and coordinated goals," said Superintendent Kelli Cogan. "By working together as a community, we can address the district's challenges proactively and ensure our resources are strategically invested to maximize outcomes for students."
The community is energized about the potential this strategic planning process holds to shape the future of Independence Local Schools. Through this collective effort, the district aims to establish a clear path forward that inspires students, empowers educators, and strengthens ties between schools and the broader community. The plan is scheduled to be complete and approved at the February Board of Education meeting.
