The crisp September air was filled with laughter and excitement as Independence Primary School (IPS) PTO hosted its annual Breakfast Buddies Walk on September 19 and 20. The two-day event brought together families, students, and staff in a heartwarming display of community spirit.
As the sun rose on the first day, families with last names A-L gathered at the school entrance, ready to embark on a morning of connection and fun. The following day saw families M-Z joining in the festivities, ensuring that every IPS family had the opportunity to participate.
"We couldn't have asked for better weather or a better turnout," said Principal TJ Ebert. "Seeing our school community come together like this, and our PTO who worked so hard on this event, was truly inspiring."
The event kicked off at 8 a.m. each day, with families walking to school together, creating a colorful parade of excited children and proud parents. Upon arrival, delicious donuts greeted them. Families explored the school grounds, engaging in various activities. The playground buzzed with energy as parents joined their children on swings and slides.
The event provided a unique opportunity for families to connect with each other and with school staff. Teachers and administrators mingled with parents, fostering a sense of community and open communication. "Events like this make such a difference," said Ebert. "It helps us build relationships with families that last throughout the school year."
As the morning drew to a close, the success of the Breakfast Buddies Walk was evident in the smiling faces and conversations that filled the school grounds. "This is what community is all about," reflected Principal Ebert. "We're not just a school; we're a family. And over the past two mornings, that family grew stronger."
