Independence Middle School (IMS) 7th and 8th-grade football players ran another successful food drive. Nearly 100 pounds of food were delivered to Audrey's Outreach Food Pantry in Brookpark, which has been severely impacted by recent tornadoes. “It's so great to see our young student-athletes rally together to support those going through more challenging times,” said Principal Jamie Vanek. “Their efforts help those in need and teach valuable lessons in generosity and compassion. Great job to our players, coaches, and families for their contribution and commitment to giving back.”

On September 11, the IMS football teams hosted a “Heroes" game, celebrating those who have made a significant impact on our 8th-grade players. Each player has nominated a hero from their lives—whether it's a teacher, service worker, family member, or community figure—to be honored during the game. This special event is a meaningful way to recognize and appreciate the individuals who have inspired and supported our athletes. “We look forward to this annual game that highlights the heroes who have played an essential role in our players' lives,” said Principal Jamie Vanek.
