With the number of retirements and resignations within Independence Local Schools, the district was able to take advantage of attrition by filling vacant positions internally. After exploring class sizes and programmatic needs, several positions were filled with new hires. When we replaced positions, those salary costs were lower, contributing to this overall savings. This combination of staffing analysis and budget monitoring has allowed the district to reduce expenditures by more than $550,000 for the next fiscal year. Although these savings are substantial, the district will still be operating in deficit spending. These measures will help maintain the district's commitment to educational excellence while aligning with its fiscal responsibility goals.
Looking ahead to the 2024-25 school year, the district is excited to welcome the following individuals to the Independence school community. These new hires underwent a rigorous interview process and are among the finest educators in Northeast Ohio.
